Lids and Epoxy

Since our inception, RJR Polymers has developed and refined every aspect of proprietary polymer adhesive technology in order to supply proper solutions to our customers. As a result, we provide unparalleled expertise in automated, controlled processes that maintain structural integrity, protect package contents, and maximize efficiency.

RJR now offers the industry’s most advanced adhesive technology solutions. Our products range from high-temperature, high-performance B-stage epoxy systems to low-temperature co-polymer systems that can be sealed in thirty seconds or less. In addition, we provide proprietary, high-performance formulations to accommodate specific objectives and processing cycles, as well as custom-designed formulations to maximize yields.

RJR’s pre-applied B-stage adhesives can be applied to numerous different types of parts and lids to seal air cavity packages. In general, we apply our non-conductive and conductive adhesives to metal, glass, ceramic, and plastic materials. We will either purchase the parts to meet the customers specifications or we will apply our material to customer furnished material (CFM).

Lids

• Ceramic parts are purchased from both domestic and foreign suppliers. The turnaround time for the receipt of foreign suppliers is generally 10 to 12 weeks and for our domestic suppliers, it ranges from 7 to 10 weeks.

• Metal parts are generally purchased from domestic suppliers. The turn around time varies depending on the complexity of the part.

• Glass lids are manufactured in our own facility from raw glass stock. We generally stock Corning 0211, 1737 and Schaft D263 and cut it to the customer’s specifications. We also can supply AR and IR coated glass as well as handle all types of specialty products, like blue chrome glass or we will apply our material to CFM glass. To obtain our glass products at the most economic cost, RJR has developed a fully automatic glass demounting process, thereby being able to ship the glass on a ringframe rather than in a tray. This reduces the cost by eliminating non-value added labor (cost to put windows in trays) and keeps the glass cleaner due to reduced handling. For more information on our glass demounters, glass sealing equipment (semi- and fully-automatic) etc. (see our ‘Automation’ section).

• Plastic lids are either manufactured at our facility or purchased from domestic vendors. If the part is tooled, the turn around time for manufacturing an RJR plastic lid is two weeks. Customers who want to reduce their lead-time in obtaining lids, should think in terms of changing their existing lid to a RJR tooled plastic lid. Not only does the customer reduce lead times, but any potential liability decreases if the order is cancelled.
